Aleksandra Lebedeva has been recommended specifically by the Vaganova Academy to teach the character dance for our students. Currently Alexandra Lebedeva works as a character dance teacher at the Boris Eifman Dance Academy.
Graduated from the Vaganova Academy as artist and teacher, she works in the Mariinsky Theatre as a dancer since 1997. Since 2018 she also conducts rehearsals of the students from the Vaganova Academy from time to time.
She acquired a lot of experience working the historical repertoire on the Mariinsky Theatre stage. She performed as a soloist in “The Fountain of Bakhchisarai'' (Krakowiak), "The Swan Lake'' (mazurka) “Don Quixote'' (Gipsy), “The Nutcracker'' (Lady) and "Polovtsian dances'' and she has also danced every kind of historical dances such as quadrilles, minuets, sarabandes, polonaises and other kind of dances highly used in classical repertoire.
During the course of character dance, students may study and get familiar with the following dances from the Mariinsky Theatre: the Minuet from “Rigoletto”, the Quadrille from “The Queen of swords” and the Polonaise from “Eugene Onegin”, among other pieces and apart from the theoretical material following the methodology of the Vaganova Academy.
